What is the Disaster Dislocated Worker Program?

The Disaster Dislocated Worker Program provides temporary employment to workers affected by major dislocations, including natural disasters and other categories noted below. Disaster relief employment jobs mainly involve debris removal and clean up to areas affected by the hurricane, along with humanitarian and restoration assistance. The pay rate for jobs offered through the program range from $10 to $20 an hour.

Participant Eligibility Requirements

  • *Must be living in Broward County, Fla. (Veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply)

  • Individuals who are temporarily or permanently laid off as a consequence of the disaster (Priority)

  • Self-employed individuals who become unemployed or significantly underemployed as a result of a disaster (Priority)

  • Long-term unemployed workers; unemployed six out of the past 13 weeks
